  • Responsibilities

    The Exploration Lab team focuses research and development into emerging technologies and the impact they can have on the financial services industry. Some examples of the technologies the team may research include: blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and augmented and virtual reality The intern will work alongside IT professionals working in data science, research and development engineers in the software engineering space and project managers to develop proof-of-concepts demonstrating the capabilities of various technologies. The intern will learn the importance of technology in business and learn how TD Ameritrade uses technology to succeed in the financial services marketplace. This is a full‐time role (8 hours per day, Monday through Friday) and may require occasional travel. The work location is St. Louis. The internship may lead to an offer to become a full‐time associate or an offer for a subsequent internship (depending on graduation date).

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Exploration Lab interns will join a team and be assigned to project(s) involving research and analysis for product design,
    • Assist with system design and specification development.
    • Provides analysis of problems and recommends solutions.
    • Help develop program specifications and coding logic and flow-charting in compliance with security standards.
    • Test, debug and document work.
    • Assist in the presentation of research findings and project status to technical and business management.
    • All interns will work with internal customers to define business problems/opportunities as well as the solution requirements, design, and testing approach
    • All interns will work as part of a team that supports a functional area of the business; specific projects assigned will be determined on individual education and experience level
  • Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current enrollment in a four year or graduate program (computer science, information technology, or similar technology degree).
    • Successful completion of college sophomore study semesters
    • GPA of 3.0 or greater
    • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
    • Python, JavaScript or related development experience.
    • Understanding of Object Oriented design and design patterns.
    • Understanding of database design.
    • Strong presentation skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; prior internship experience is a plus
    • Ability to understand and assimilate with TD Ameritrade core values of people matter, client centric, integrity first, work together and strive to win.
