    JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

    Starbucks is seeking a highly motivated accountant I to join the Global Financial Risk & Controls team. This job contributes to Starbucks success to strengthen internal controls globally to accounting and non-accounting functions. This is a unique role that acts as a liaison for Starbucks departments and works cross-functionally with internal audit and technology teams to facilitate the annual SOX program. This role is not part of an Internal Audit team and does not perform testing, but rather supports and consults with the business to assess risk and strengthen internal control and documentation globally. We participate in cross-functional efforts to identify risks and strengthen internal controls while maintaining or gaining efficiencies. This position will be key in the growth of this developing team focused on greater development of ICOFR beyond finance and accounting, working closely with partners in Japan, China, and Americas. This team has visibility and exposure to the Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, and other key leaders across Starbucks.     SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

    • Participate in risk assessment, control rationalization and documentation.
    • Provide support in the enhancement of all areas of management’s ICOFR program, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
    • Work with the business to assess and document end-to-end design of risks and controls over key process and provide guidance to strengthen the process with a goal of both strength and efficiency.
    • Continuously develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of Starbucks’ business, organizational structure, business processes, policies and procedures, and apply that knowledge in support of identifying risks and improving internal controls.
    • Establish relationships with Starbucks personnel at appropriate levels to become a valuable partner and resource, serve as an internal consultant and provide coaching and guidance.
    • Liaise with management, internal audit and external audit to monitor testing progress and assist with issue resolution as an advocate and support for the business.
    • Stay current on best practices in the field, make recommendations for improvements.
    • Assist in development and delivery of an internal controls training program.
    • Work with the team to achieve partner, business and customer results and be an advocate for a strong internal control environment globally.
    • Key participant in SharePoint and Archer development and ongoing business administration and support.
    • Recommends and implements ideas and innovations to improve upon existing systems, work processes and procedures.
    • Informs and advises management on issues, seeking assistance to escalate issues as appropriate.

    __SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE   

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred. • Additional accounting experience is also valued

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

     

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
