    Starbucks is seeking an Information Security Engineer to join the Global Cybersecurity Services team at the Starbucks Technology Center (STC) in Scottsdale, Arizona, a satellite office of the Starbucks corporate headquarters in Seattle. The Global Cybersecurity Services team, with members located in both Seattle and Arizona, is defined by the mission to protect the brand and its digital footprint.  As a consistently awarded “most recognized brand”, the responsibility requires multiple services to remain successful. These services include, but are not limited to, web fraud services, network protection, endpoint protection, identity and access services, and various programs that provide oversight to the enterprise.  All of these together establish Starbucks as a leader in retail security services.

     

    Starbucks maintains a close partnership with Arizona State University, and at the STC we draw much of our talent from the university’s internship program. Together, Starbucks and ASU cultivate a culture of career growth and learning, enabling our intern partners to contribute to and accelerate the Starbucks technology roadmap.     WHAT’LL YOU BE DOING…

    In this role as an Information Security Engineer, you will contribute to Starbucks success by assisting in the design, development and deployment of a broad spectrum of security services. As an information security engineer, you will partner with architects, business and IT teams to ensure that security is applied to the technology platforms and information within the organization in accordance with established standards and policies.

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participates in the development, planning and implementation of a variety of security services such as vulnerability management, behavioral analytics and other security-focused tools and technologies
    • Participates in the integration of new and existing technologies, including initial configuration, installation, change management and operational handoff
    • Develops automation for system integration, data collection and analysis
    • Partners with Security Architecture Team to ensure platform goals and security solutions are designed to meet business strategy and needs
    • Ensures that Starbucks Technology is in compliance with published security standards
    • Participates in the design and implementation of security controls built and engineered to meet compliance controls including internal controls, as well as SOX and PCI controls
    • Participates in security incident response activities
  • Qualifications

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR…

    YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:

    • 1-3 years of professional industry experience assisting with the design, development, and deployment of security services • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field • Working knowledge of networks, Linux/Unix, Windows server administration, patch deployment, system configuration, cloud computing, automation, and information security best practices • Experience with risk management processes such as methods for assessing and mitigating risk • Hands-on experience monitoring, detecting, reporting security weaknesses, and enforcing information security policies and best practices • Experience with one or more enterprise-level vulnerability scanning and reporting tools (e.g. Tenable, Qualys, Rapid7, RiskSense, Kenna Security) • Experience with developing scripts for automating data collection and analysis, Python strongly preferred • Working proficiency in developmental toolsets (Git, Jenkins, Docker, etc.) • Experience with the Agile development framework and working on a Scrum team • Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines • Ability to use business knowledge, sound judgment, and resourcefulness to proactively move efforts forward • Ability to work within large collaborative organizations
