    Job Summary

    Do dream about working in media production once you graduate? Do you live, breathe, and eat filmmaking? Join our team as a production intern and put your creative skills to work as you work in production and post-production of content that will air on television. You will exercise your abilities as you assist in filming pieces and editing content by performing critical production tasks , whether it’s editing clips and filming b-roll to handling the lighting and conducting research. You’ll gain experience as a member of a production team on a professional video project and have the opportunity to build relationships in the industry to strengthen your chances of finding employment upon graduation.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Assist in producing, filming, and editing video content (which must adhere to company guidelines and formats and standards for HD Cable Television channels, for streaming, and to share on online channels, including social media and YouTube.)
    • Edit content to produce an engaging, informative narrative.
    • Research topics using a variety of sources, including video archives, the internet, library archives and others as needed to find B-roll.
    • Communicate with producers, directors, managers and other members of staff to ensure projects run smoothly.
    • Provide assistance as needed in all components of the pre-production, production, post-production.
    • Perform other duties as requested by staff in a manner that adheres to the high level of quality residents expect from DCTV
  • Qualifications

    Jobs Skills & Qualifications Required:

    • Enrolled in an accredited college or university, either at the graduate or undergraduate level. Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to receive credit for this internship
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Premiere Pro
    • Proven problem-solving skills
    • A good team player and the ability to roll with the punches. (There are always roadbumps in video production, the real test of a person is their ability to deal with them.)

    Preferred:

    • Enrolled in a film/editing related major or program, such as film studies or videography
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Experience filming content (Note: Don’t be afraid to apply if your skill level isn’t at a professional level yet, this can include filming for YouTube using a smartphone)
    • Experience with Adobe-based production software (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, etc)
    • Experience with Slack and digital communication tools. Working knowledge of social media channels
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Knowledge of formats and standards for HD Cable Television channels, for streaming, and or online channels, including social media and YouTube

    The Nitty Gritty

    • This is a 12 week internship in which you would work 16 hours a week.
    • A stipend will be part of this internship.
