Disney Wilderness Preserve GLOBE Intern
This position includes an orientation in Washington, D.C., followed by a 10-week paid internship.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS By working on a wide variety of tasks that are associated with managing a conservation site that has a strong commitment to public outreach, this intern will learn the actual operational, biological and public elements of conservation in today’s world. The intern will be an integral part of The Nature Conservancy’s Central Florida Conservation Program.

This is a full-time, temporary internship position with a position term of May 31st – August 5th, 2016. Housing is provided for the duration of the internship on-site at Disney Wilderness Preserve.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • HS Diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or a recent graduate (within two years of graduating from an undergraduate or graduate program) for biology, conservation/environmental studies, forestry, wildlife, ecology, or related field, or equivalent • Experience using MS office, Word, Excel, and navigating the Internet • Demonstrated interest in natural resource management • Strong oral and verbal communication skills • Ability to work outside under hot and physically demanding conditions • Ability to complete a fitness test for participation on prescribed fires: complete a three mile-walk carrying a 45-lb pack within 45 minutes. • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience working outdoors
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT • This position will require working outside in variable weather conditions. • The intern will work under hot, humid, insect-ridden conditions.
