Bluffton University, founded in 1899, is a private Christian liberal arts college located in Bluffton, a small village in Ohio. It enrolls around 1,000 students, and is affiliated to the Mennonite Church. Students are required to live on campus, unless they live with parents at a commutable distance. The university follows an honor system, according to which tests and exams aren’t monitored. Instead, students sign a contract in which they declare that they’ve received no aid during the test. Spiritual life is prominent, with Spiritual Life Week and the Ministry Inquiry Program. There are also more than 40 extra-curricular organizations and varsity sports teams. Home games are never dull for the Bluffton Beavers, and Toledo and Dayton are the right distance away for a spontaneous road trip. Its notable alumni include stand-up comedian & actress Phyllis Diller and motivational speaker & dancer Judson Laipply. Bluffton aims to cultivate honor, vocation and responsible citizenship among its students.
