Established in 1947, California State University-Los Angeles is a public university located in the University Hills district, just miles from downtown LA, California. It belongs to the California State University system of 23 schools, and is where Billie Jean King, Sam Elliott, Samuel Durrance, and James A Bell went to school. The school offers certificate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, in a wide range of fields, each taught by distinguished professors, well known for their expertise, contributing to prestigious, world class courses. Cal State-LA has developed one-of-a-kind programs such as the early education program for gifted children, and an ‘experiential’ learning project that final year students enrol in. With a massive and diverse student population of over 24,000, Greek life at the university thrives. The campus’s proximity to downtown LA, and its large population means students are exposed to a learning community that is invigorating and unique, all while instilling a sense of community. Students at Cal State LA participate in sports, visit the abundance of natural and city sights close to campus, or hang out at The Pit after classes.
