Established in 1973, Eastern Virginia Medical School is a private-public medical school located in Norfolk, Virginia. The school is exclusively a graduate medical school, offering masters, doctoral and dual degree programs in biomedical and health education. The dual MD & MBA program, and doctoral degree in reproductive clinical sciences are just a couple of the varied programs that the school offers. One of EVMS’s goals is to be community oriented, and the school’s achievements towards fulfilling this has been well documented. Not only was EVMS the first US institution to have produced a viable foetus through IVF, but it has also set up the only tertiary level 1 trauma medical care facility in the region. The school is also well known for its non-profit community oriented initiatives, such as CONRAD, Operation Smile, and Physicians for Peace, to name a few. Students at EVMS thrive in the vibrant and diverse learning environment at the school, not to mention the rich American history of Hampton Roads.
