Eden Theological Seminary is one of the six theological schools of the United Church of Christ. The school was established in 1850 at Webster Groves, Missouri. It has over 200 students who receive a strong theological grounding. Students may choose from specialty degree programs, such as the Divinity or Theological Studies program, or several of its non-degree course offerings. Apart from classrooms that take the center stage, the school also makes room for inter-faith discussions, creative leadership and church and community services. Students get to participate in LIFE, or Lifelong Learner Institute of Faith Exploration, a program of retreats where laymen and women can get acquainted with the scripture, and gain a broader understanding of Christian faith and life. Notable alumni include theologian & intellectual Reinhold Niebuhr and United Church of Christ minister & theologian Chuck Currie. The school, with its strong emphasis on practicing what is learned in “real life” ministry settings, has both a thorough and approachable curriculum.
