Founded in 1998, Ex’pression College for Digital Arts is a private art school located in Emeryville, California. The unusual spelling of ‘expression’ is a play on the word ‘Eckhart’s’, referring to one of the co-founders, Eckhart Wintzen. The college offers bachelor’s degrees in the fields of Animation & Visual Effects, Digital Filmmaking, Game Art & Design, Interactive Audio, and Sound Arts. Ex’pression is has gained a reputation for having around-the-clock schedules and eight week terms. This means the course work is usually gruelling, but with the professional, creative faculty, and the top of the line equipment and software that the schools provides its students with, it’s a fair trade off. With a small student body of about 500, the student community at Ex’pression is very close knit. They are encouraged to form small groups when classes start, so they can work in tandem, and also apply for group internships. Emeryville, located just across the Bay Bridge, is home to a thriving, diverse community and creative opportunities that are sure to be beneficial to Ex’pression students!
