Established in 1919, Fort Scott Community College is a public community college located in Fort Scott, Kansas. It also has satellite campuses situated at other sites in Kansas. Fort Scott has the distinction of being the oldest community college in the state of Kansas. Notable alumni from FSCC include footballer Davon Coleman, and actor Jason Sudeikis. The college offers certificate and associate degrees with majors such as carpentry, journalism, masonry, and nursing, to name a few. The student community at FSCC is medium sized, at about 2000, and diverse in that they have both traditional and non-traditional students on campus, such as working professionals and returning adults. It is notable that the college has an indoor and outdoor rodeo training facility, as well as a museum. During weekends, students can always head down to Kansas City, a mere 90 miles away, for a bit of fun!
