Founded in 1924, Illinois Valley Community College is a public community college situated in Oglesby, Illinois. The first ever class at the college was held in a building provided by the LeSalle-Peru Township High School, with a mere 39 students. In the years since, it has grown to over 3500 students, a massive 2000 square miles campus, and a branch campus in Ottawa Center. IVCC offers associate and certificate programs in the disciplines of Arts, Science, and Engineering Science. The college also offers offers adult education, continuing education, vocational training, and workforce development. Distance learning and night classes are also offered for non-traditional students with full time jobs or families. Oglesby is a very small town, but those at IVCC can always head to Chicago, 95 miles away, for more variety in entertainment.
