Formerly known as the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, the Kubert School is a private technical school located in Dover, New Jersey. Started by cartoonist Joe Kubert of DC Comics fame (Sgt. Rock and Hawkman), Kubert has the distinction of being the only school in the US dedicated to cartooning. Established in 1976, the school offers a three year course teaching the principles and techniques of cartooning and graphic art, in addition to weekend & evening classes, summer sessions, and a correspondence program for those not enrolled in the three year program. The student population is small, but very diverse, with students coming from all over the world. Several graduates from Kubert, such as Scott Kolins and Dan Parent, have gone on to make it big in the illustration/comic industry.
