Lasell College in Newton, Massachusetts began life in 1851 as a women’s finishing college, but today has evolved to both offer primarily four-year degrees and admit men (it’s been co-ed since 1997.) Known for its “Connected Learning” program, which provides off-site work opportunities, Lasell has been ranked among the top ten in the nation in a list of “Great Schools at Great Prices” by U.S. News. Its fashion program allows all students, not just seniors, to showcase their work in annual show, and counts among its notable alumni Project Runway finalist Sonjia Williams. Other majors here include pre-law, applied mathematics, education and many forms of communications (six sub-concentrations in all). Culture is alive and well here, too: performing arts events and fine arts exhibits abound in the Yamawaki Cultural Center, and the study-abroad program offers coursework at more than 40 destinations around the world. Student-athletes (known as the Lasers) compete in nine NCAA Division III sports, too. So get focused, and shine bright, because with all Lasell College has to offer, these Lasers can’t be wrong!
