Marquette University, a private institution found in Milwaukee, WI, broke new ground when it became the first co-ed Catholic university in the nation, admitting its first female students in 1909. It currently offers nearly 100 degree programs across 11 schools and colleges, and its student body (currently around 12,000 in number) once counted comic actor Chris Farley as well as Senator Joe McCarthy among its ranks. Culture is rich at Marquette; the 6,000-work Haggerty Museum of Art complements rigorous music and theatrical programs within the Diederich College of Communication. The Golden Eagles also participate in 14 NCAA varsity sports and over 20 intramural sports, and swell with pride when they hear the university fight song played on the carillon bells of the beautiful Marquette Hall bell tower. Beyond all that, in 2016 Kiplinger’s listed Marquette among its “Best Values in Private Colleges.” So go on, like so many before you, head to Wisconsin for this winning educational combination!
