Marylhurst University, in the Oregon town of the same name, while steeped in Roman Catholic tradition, is proud to have its student body (of about 1,200) represent several dozen faiths today. Its academic vision is guided by seven values that teach the power of compassion and of living out one’s beliefs wholeheartedly. One of the oldest institutions of its kind in the Northwest, MU granted its first degree in 1897, and proudly counts among its thirty-five degree programs a unique Master’s Degree in Art Therapy. St. Anne’s Chapel, the Wiegand Recital Hall, and the Lajos Balogh Performance Shell regularly host a variety of cultural and musical events on-campus, and the comprehensive Shoen Library is open for student use seven days a week. Other resources include a math resource center, a writing center and tutoring in English as a Second Language. Marylhurst has also been consistently rated as one of the best online colleges in its state; nearly two-thirds of students take their coursework partially or entirely online. While small, Marylhurst University still matches the power and quality of larger schools; its focus on providing quality liberal arts education remains unmatched!
