The New York School of Interior Design, founded in 1916, serves around 600 students from nineteen states and twenty-five foreign countries. Students here can pursue any of a variety of academic programs, from a one-year diploma in basic design to the Post-Professional Master of Fine Arts degree. NYSID boasts an average class size of just 12 and employment placement rates of greater than 90% for both undergraduate and graduate students. Its values emphasize finding the “spark” within each potential designer, and its coursework balances conceptual design with applied design, while maintaining a strong foundation within the liberal arts. These values pay off: Design Intelligence recently rated NYSID to be among the best five interior design schools in the country. A fully residential college, NYSID also provides furnished on-campus housing, with free cable and internet access, as well as a gym, game room and computer kiosks. And for something more to do, students can simply venture out into the Big Apple, as the campus is surrounded by amazing artistic hubs like the Guggenheim, Sotheby’s and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. With all this going for it, The New York School of Interior Design is a space anyone can see themselves thriving within!
