Northern Illinois University, founded in 1895, is a public research university with over 21,400 undergraduate students. Its campus is located in DeKalb, Illinois, distinguishable by its art museum, year-round free musical concerts, the East Lagoon and castle-themed buildings. It has approximately 200 student clubs, programs favoring undergraduate research, and study abroad opportunities based in over 70 countries. Its recreational center, with bowling, a billiards table and a video arcade, is known as the Huskies Den!
