Founded in 1969 in Lakewood, Colorado and extended into a secondary campus in Arvada, Colorado in 1990, Red Rocks Community College serves over 14,000 high school students and young adults by awarding associate degrees and professional certifications in 150 subjects of study. The main campus building spans 140 acres, with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, and includes full-service child care, a recreation center and cafeteria, while the still-expanding Arvada campus focuses on general education credit and specialized study in health care. Flexible coursework options include online, self-paced and weekend structures, and all are taught by highly qualified faculty that have been awarded 20 Endowed Teaching Chairmanships by the Colorado community college system’s only ETC program. For students that are having trouble, tutoring services are absolutely free at RRCC, and the financial aid foundation has provided over $4 million in funds to those in need. Student life is rich here, well beyond the classroom, too: special-interest organizations cover everything from Dungeons & Dragons and political science to filmmaking and Native American culture, and annual publication Obscura gives creative students the chance to publish poetry, visual art and fiction. Red Rocks Community College is a powerful influencer of education in Colorado, the West and beyond!
