Established in 1873, Texas Christian University is a private university located in Fort Worth, Texas. It is affiliated with the Disciples of Christ. It is a large university with more than 10,000 students, and ranks in the top 100 National Universities by the US News and World Report. The college offers certificate, diploma, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in various fields. It houses the US’s first academically affiliated ballet program, as well as popular MBA and communication journalism programs. At TCU, equal importance is given to academics and extracurricular activities. Most students at TCU have an active Greek life. Athletics is huge at TCU, with the university being part of the Big XII; they sport a horned frog mascot (also the state’s reptile). Student activities include numerous clubs & organisations, student run publications, a radio and television station, and dance/music. Students on campus are known to head into town to volunteer in the community, visit Billy Bob’s, the state’s largest honky tonk, for shopping, or to eat out at one of the nearby restaurants.
