The University of Tennessee, established in 1794, is a public university with over 21,000 undergraduates. Its headquarters is at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains located in Knoxville, Tennessee. It’s a great place for academics and bursting with school spirit! Nothing beats football games at the Neyland Stadium, especially with the Pride of Southland Marching Band’s rendition of Rocky Top. The ‘Rock’, a UT tradition, further encourages self expression. Its surface serves as a message board, canvas, and more to the student community. There’s even more to do off campus, as there's always a party to go to at the Strip. Students benefit from being a part of the Big Orange community; its strong alumni base getting them access to lucrative internships and opportunities. Author Cormac McCarthy and economist James M. Buchanan are two of the university's many notable alumni. The University of Tennessee, with its orange fervor, is a great place to learn and live.
