University of Texas at Dallas is a public research university, established in 1969, located at the heart of Richardson, Texas. It has over 14,000 undergraduates and is known for its high research activity. It’s a school that offers more than 100 academic programs, 300 student organizations and a plush Activity Center; allowing its students to explore different avenues and find their niche. The campus is scattered with memorable traditions, such as rubbing the head of the Cecil Green statue for good luck, leaving messages on the Spirit Rock and participating in Holiday Sing! Its students can cheer on the Comets at their basketball home games, while their chess team is just as (if not more) well regarded! Even amateur chess players have a reason to rejoice, as there’s always (more than enough) room for a game of chess on the university’s life-sized chess board. Notable UT Dallas alumni include singer-songwriter Ryan Cabrera and author Richard Morgan. The UT Dallas campus, with plenty to places to eat and hang out, contributes to the school’s welcoming and challenging environment.
