University of Delaware has a student body of just the right size, housing approximately 16,000 undergraduates. It is a private university with public funding, established in 1743. Vice President Joe Biden and author Maureen Johnson went to school here. Its main campus is in Newark, though it has satellite campuses in Dover, Wilmington, Lewes and Georgetown. The campus beautifully planned, with greenery, brick buildings and white columns. The university is known for its research activity and its active study abroad programs. It has around 400 student organizations and majors and minors that cater to diverse interests. Student life is at its warmest on Main Street, huddled with amazing parties, bars, restaurants and tailgates. UD’s women’s basketball team has made waves, having gone undefeated for consecutive years in the past! UD is a medium-sized picturesque university with solid programs and brilliant opportunities.
