University of Maryland, College Park is a public research university in College Park, Maryland. It was established in 1856 and has over 25,000 undergrads. UMCP has a beautiful and conveniently located campus; it’s not too far from DC, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. It has been featured as one of the top ten smartest public colleges, and is the alma mater of Carly Fiona as well as Google co-founder Sergey Brin. It’s a great place for research and entrepreneurship, with a robust alumni base. Athletics, particularly the school’s basketball team, is brilliant! It has good Greek life, though the social scene isn’t solely dependent on it. The university houses many clubs and organizations that cater to every type of person; the sheer volume of which is visible at the First Look fair. It has a great number of restaurants and diners both on and off campus. UMCP has a truly diverse campus, with enough challenge and rigor to help you build your career.
