Founded in 1874, University of Nevada-Reno is a public research university located in Reno, Nevada. It offers bachelor’s. masters, and doctoral degrees in areas such as Rangeland Ecology & Management, Speech Pathology, Business, and Engineering. The university places strong emphasis on research, and their research on engineering is excellent. The university has great facilities to further research, such as the Nevada Terawatt Facility. UNR’s school of journalism has also produced six Pulitzer prize winners, Susan Forrest and Kristen Go among them. UNR is home to a very large, and significantly diverse student population of over 18,000 students. The school’s campus boasts an arboretum, a planetarium, and a mineral museum. Reno is well known for its entertainment industry, and while those at UNR are known for their academic excellence and research prowess, they are not above a fun night out in the city, or a day of exploring the surrounding landscape. The school often comes in at the top 200 of ‘best of’ lists by the US News & World Report, and its MBA program has been ranked 24th in the country by Bloomberg Busineesweek. Notable alumni include Gina Carano, Chris Ault, and Colin Kaepernick.
