University of Notre Dame, founded in 1842, is a Catholic research university located in South Bend, Indiana. It has over 11,500 undergraduate students and an awe-inspiring campus that served as the film set for 1993 sports movie “Rudy”. Notre Dame’s Golden Dome, which marks the center of the campus, is a stunning sight. It has a strong academic and football program (go Irish!); with game days bringing ND students and alumni from all over the world together. Despite the absence of Greek life, Notre Dame is known for its distinctive single-sex dorm culture. It’s also home to student organizations, retreats, mission trips and service-related events, further encouraging a feeling of community within a community. There’s something for everyone on campus, with music festivals, hip-hop nights and other student events hosted every other weekend. Students also frequent the Feve, which assures a great Thursday night on budget. Notable ND alumni include talk-show host Regis Philbin and writer & novelist Nicholas Sparks. Notre Dame, with its luxuriant green fields and tight-knit alumni network, makes for a safe and competent environment.
