Established in 1949, University of San Diego is a private Roman Catholic university in San Diego, California. It was initially founded as a college for women. The college is situated overlooking Mission Bay and Sea World, with a beautiful view of the city. It offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, in Architecture, Theology, and Engineering, to name a few. The founders’ philosophy of creating an environment conducive to learning is reflected in the beautiful campus, with its Spanish architecture and greenery. In fact, the college makes it to the top of lists not only for the excellence of its academic programs, but also for the campus. It is a large university, with more than 7000 students enrolled, most of whom live on campus. Student activities vary from sports & athletics (the Toreros are a big name in the sports scene), to Greek life, joining clubs & organisations, and contributing to student run publications. Learning communities are a unique feature of USD, where students with similar interests live and study together. Jim Parsons, Robert Kardashian, and Chris Bauer are some of those who graduated from USD.
