Founded in 1889, Webb Institute is a private engineering college located in Glen Cove, New York, in the north shore of Long Island. The school is places special emphasis on ship design, systems engineering, and practical work experience. It offers only one program – a bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Webb Institute is known for its intensive and highly competitive program that gives students an extra edge when it comes to hands on experience and a different point of view when it comes to practical knowledge, making them in-demand in the job market. With only about 100 students on campus, it is a heavily male dominant student body. The curriculum is intensive and highly strenuous, but success rates are very high at the institute. Webb Institute has close ties with the United States Merchant Marine Academy, the State University of New York Maritime College, and the Cooper Union. The college is also consistently ranked among the best specialty engineering colleges by Princeton Review. Interestingly, the Stevenson Taylor Hall of the institute was used as Wayne Manor in two Batman films!
