After graduating from UPenn with a degree in Communications, Nicole landed a job in Culture Marketing at Red Bull. Here’s what she has to say after 1.5 years at the company.
Why did you choose this job?
I was looking for a creative role within a cutting edge company. When I heard about Red Bull’s Culture Marketing program I knew it would be the perfect mix of business, creativity, and strategy. I was also very inspired by Red Bull’s mission: “to give wings to people and ideas.” Because of this, I loved that I would be helping artists advance in their fields.
What is an average day like in your role?
Everyday was different! One day I would be in business planning meetings, the next I would be setting up for an underground concert in Brooklyn, and the next I would be negotiating a brand activation at a fashion show.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Not drinking too much Red Bull each day! Just kidding, we always had a lot going on so it was challenging to make sure each event, artist, and activation got the attention it deserved.
What’s your favorite part of the job?
Definitely the people I worked with. Red Bull doesn’t hire conventional types, so we always had an interesting mix.
What’s a common misconception about your job?
Everyone always asks if I drive the Red Bull car!
Any tips for current college students who aspire to have your job?
Learn about the industry. Know your music taste, know your art taste, and know how to speak about emerging scenes.
If you had a time machine and could travel back to visit yourself in college, what’s the #1 piece of advice you would have given yourself?
Keep in touch with professors. They’re actually really awesome people.
What is a fun perk of your job?
The most amazing perk was getting to go to all the awesome events that Red Bull hosts. Between sporting events, concerts, and exploring nightlife, my schedule was always filled.
