Job and Internship Resources for Veterans

Every year on November 11th we celebrate Veteran’s Day in honor of everyone who has fought for our country. However, no matter how much veteran’s have done, many face struggles once they return home from war. It is challenging to apply for benefits, get back to school and finish their education and find jobs.

How InternMatch Can Help:

The GI Bill provides assistance for veterans to get back into an academic atmosphere. However, getting back into a professional environment can be a challenge for those who have been out of the workforce for some time, as there is currently a 9.9% unemployment rate for veterans.

Application Process:

It all starts with the search, and you need to look no further than InternMatch. From the application process to landing an internship/entry-level job, our resources will guide you along the way. When searching for employment our guide how to find an internship can be used to find an entry-level job as well since they involve the same steps. Also, be sure to take into account what industry you would like to get involved in. Our downloadable guides will also provide insight into creating the optimum resume for your experiences and a cover letter that will help you get an interview.

Interview Process:

We won’t leave you hanging after you land the interview though, we’ll be there every step of the way. Prepping for the interview is as essential as the application process. It may have been some time since your last interview, so prepare to answer any of these questions; our guide helps you with the 5 standard questions asked during interviews. With the amount of experience you may possess as a veteran, make sure to also prepare questions to ask your interviewer so that you can assure that the position and company fit what you’re looking for.

Internships & Entry Level Jobs:

Student veterans can use the resources provided by InternMatch for some insight into how to make a smooth transition into these settings. These resources cater to veterans as well as anyone entering the professional world. Many of our partners have internships and entry-level jobs that can help veterans get back into the workforce. Let InternMatch be your one-stop shop to prepare for the professional world, and find your next form of employment.

Finally, on behalf of the entire InternMatch team, Happy Veterans Day!
