WayUp teamed up with seven Unilever interns who wrote about what it’s like to work for a company that makes products used by 2.5 billion people around the world. Today’s post is from Fiona Iriarte, a student at the University of Illinois and a former Customer Development Finance intern. Here’s what she had to say about her finance internship:
I’m studying finance and international business management at the University of Illinois, and I knew I wanted to intern in corporate finance at a large, international company.
I also wanted to intern for a value-driven company. Unilever’s Customer Development Finance internship caught my attention because of its purpose-driven brands and commitment to growing its business in a sustainable way. I was inspired by initiatives focused on improving global health and promoting sustainable agriculture because they demonstrate how corporations can make an impact beyond the office.
It was definitely the right choice. Throughout my internship at Unilever, I have met and worked with extremely smart, driven, and passionate individuals.
Unilever trusts interns with a huge amount of responsibility, which has been extremely helpful for developing my technical and professional skills. Owning a project from start to finish is definitely a rewarding experience, and knowing that my work has made a lasting impact on the business is something that I’m proud to take away from this summer.
