WayUp Celebrates America’s Interns With “National Intern Day”

As the go-to career platform for students and recent grads, WayUp is excited to announce that the first-ever National Intern Day will take place on July 27th, 2017. WayUp is partnering with top companies across the country including American Express, Under Armour, Dell Technologies, and Unilever to recognize the nation’s hardworking interns, and celebrate National Intern Day.

“Internships are a critical step on the path to landing a job after graduation, and launching a successful career. Despite the stereotypes, internships are not about fetching coffee and making copies. Interns are vital contributors to the organizations that they work for, so we wanted to create a single day that puts them in the spotlight.” said Liz Wessel, CEO and Co-Founder of WayUp. “WayUp has helped millions of people find internships, and we have seen firsthand how impactful those work experiences are both for the intern, and for the company that hires them.“

As a part of the National Intern Day celebration, WayUp is launching a search to find the country’s best interns, and intern programs through the Intern Awards. Starting today, interns nationwide, as well as their colleagues and friends, can submit nominations for the best interns and programs in eight unique categories. Winners of the Intern Awards will be announced on July 27th.

Companies looking to celebrate National Intern Day can pledge to recognize their interns on July 27th at www.nationalinternday.com. WayUp will send every company who pledges a free kit with information and materials to hold their own in-office intern celebration.

“We believe that internships are extremely important, and a valuable experience for a student’s professional and personal development.” said Matthew Haddad, North American University Relations Team Lead at Unilever, one of the companies participating in National Intern Day. “We want our interns to have a fun time learning about who they are, while solving real business issues.”

To nominate students and businesses for the Intern Awards, participate in any of the National Intern Day activities, or receive more information, please visit www.nationalinternday.com.
