The best way to do this is by having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wayup.com\/guide\/common-tools-social-media-managers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in-depth knowledge of your channels<\/a> and maximizing their potential through the\u00a0effective use of testing and analytics.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some things to focus on if you want to maximize success.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>1. Be an expert on your social channels<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Being successful as a social media manager starts with knowing your channels. This means understanding the most effective use of each channel and setting goals that are specific to each one. For example, if Facebook is the biggest traffic driver for your website, knowing what drives engagement on this channel (and how to capitalize on that) should be your main priority.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pro Tip:<\/strong> Knowing what <em>doesn\u2019t<\/em> work is just as important as knowing what <em>does<\/em> work so be sure to keep a close eye on your campaigns and optimize your results by testing.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>2. Learn the basics of graphic design<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Although graphic design skills aren\u2019t a \u201cmust-have\u201d for a position in social media, having them will definitely help you do your job more effectively, particularly since graphics are becoming increasingly important for engagement.
