    Community Economic Development Intern - Fall 2018 Job ID 2018-1355 Category Director's Office Grade Level Unpaid # of Hours 20-35 Summary boston planning & development agency TITLE : COMMUNITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INTERN SUMMARY : INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FALL 2018 (UNPAID) Under the direction of the Deputy Director for Community Economic Development, participate in and assist with the coordination and implementation related economic development and planning initiatives (e.g. Roxbury Strategic Master Plan, PLAN: Dudley, PLAN: Newmarket, the Choice Neighborhood Plan, etc), as well as support for efforts to complete applications for State and Federal funding sources. Tasks will include; but not be limited to: research assistance; coordination of materials and meetings with consultants and the Mayoral Community Advisory Groups; maintenance and organization of project documents, coordination of City Team meetings and neighborhood outreach, and other special projects related to these initiatives. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a primary point of support for research and materials-gathering to support applications for State and Federal funding sources that will facilitate real estate development; Provide support for review of materials related to the creation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) Draft and review documents and materials for consultant teams, City Working Groups and external groups associated with projects. Assist in maintaining correspondence with business, institutional and community stakeholders on the progress and activities of various projects and Initiatives; Provide support for review of projects that are in early stages of the Article 80 process; Participate in Project Review Meetings as well as Program Discussions in Office of Economic Development Assist with special projects within the Boston Redevelopment Authority as needed; and perform other related duties as required. Note: This is an unpaid Internship QUALIFICATIONS: Current student with focus on Economic Development, Urban Planning, Strong interpersonal, communications, analytical, and organizational skills required. Familiarity with constituents groups and institutions in Boston and related organizations/institutions and systems. Working knowledge of economic development trends, housing policy and various statutes is not required; but considered highly valuable. Technology (database systems) familiarity preferred as well as strong proficiency in MICROSOFT WORD; POWERPOINT; GoogleDocs. DATES OF INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: September to December 2018 Fall semester full or part-time unpaid internship available ( 20-35 hours per week ) with flexible hours and start date. Intern work schedule is open for discussion based on student and employer needs. Participants in the Internship Program should be Undergraduate students, Graduate students or recent Graduates.
