    Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T) is seeking an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer to join our team in Huntington Beach, CA.

    Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including entry-level, associate, and experienced aerodynamic stability and control engineers.

    As an Aerodynamic Stability and Control Engineer, you will perform aerodynamic stability & control design and analysis of flight vehicles to ensure that the vehicle meets stability, trim, control authority, and flying qualities requirements. You will be a key contributor to improving existing and developing new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance, and reduce cycle time and cost. You will develop, coordinate and/or conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel tests, simulation studies, and flight tests to meet test objectives using established processes. You will analyze the data from these tests to assess vehicle stability & control characteristics and to produce six degree of freedom simulation models of the vehicle. You may support qualification and certification processes of the aerodynamic stability & control characteristics of flight vehicles.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Apply understanding of flight physics to advise airplane design decisions

    • Develop and verify airplane-level flight requirements

    • Develop control surface and actuation size requirements

    • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct simulation studies to meet test objectives using established processes

    • Conducts, coordinates and/or develops test requirements to meet test objectives using established processes

    • Collect and analyze data from various Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel test, and flight test

    • Analyze the data from these tests to assess vehicle stability & control characteristics and to produce six degree of freedom simulation models of the vehicle

    • Provide technical guidance during flight testing

    • Support qualification and certification processes of the aerodynamic stability & control characteristics of flight vehicles

    • Develop new tools and techniques for improving analytical efficiency

    • Key contributor to developing new and improving existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance and reduce cycle time and cost

    • Understand and apply certification requirements

    • Respond to customer Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposal (RFP)

    • Prepare and present information to internal and external customers

    • Develop documentation to capture design decisions, analysis results, and process improvements

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

    This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship .

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Experience with aerodynamics and controls engineering

    Typical Education/Experience:

    Entry-Level (Level 1):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Associate (Level 2):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Experienced (Level 3):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Relocation:

    Summary pay range for entry-level: $68,850 - $93,150

    Summary pay range for associate: $81,600 - $110,400

    Summary pay range for experienced: $100,300 - $135,700
