    Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Entry-Level Manufacturing Engineers to support our operations across the Puget Sound. This is a union represented position.

    The ideal candidate will utilize engineering concepts, manufacturing operations knowledge and business acumen to partner with cross functional teams from production operations, engineering, quality, supplier management, materials management, and program management to achieve organizational business goals and objectives.

Opportunities are available in but not limited to: mechanical/structural, electrical, software, composites, airplane systems, material, and functional test engineering. In this role an engineer candidate needs to be mechanically inclined / hands on skills, have strong academic performance. Has exceptional organizational and collaboration skills as demonstrated through leadership positions on teams and/or in student or civic organizations. Has strong technical experiences as demonstrated through technical projects, research or engineering internships. Has exceptional communication skills and interest and enthusiasm related to engineering, aerospace and a career with Boeing.

    Supports the development and implementation of production and tooling methodologies. Participates as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to support the integration of technical solutions across multiple disciplines. Supports the development, identification and implementation of conceptual designs and maintenance of the program architecture for build. Participates in the implementation of manufacturing plans. Investigates technical problems. Participates in the implementation of Lean principles and technologies. Interfaces with IPTs and internal customers to develop products, skills, knowledge and experience.

    These entry-level positions have a start date anytime between April 2022 and December 2022. Applicants’ best matching the attributes/qualifications will be scheduled for virtual interviews.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Integrates across engineering disciplines to drive producibility requirements into the design of aircraft electrical systems (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)).

    • Engaged in the implementation of technical solutions into the build plan, ensuring production safety and stability and product reliability.

    • Analyzes and improves design/build concepts to evaluate a producible product definition (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)).

    • Collect and analyze production data to identify anomalies and investigate root causes when product first-pass quality and/or production efficiency is outside our standards of excellence.

    • Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems that arise during production to ensure integrity of the product and to minimize impact to performance, cost or schedule.

    • Supports complex integration of aircraft mechanical and electrical systems into the aircraft build plan, ensuring an efficient and repeatable process for systems installation.

    • Involved with production and design engineers across commodities to ensure integration of electrical systems with all other interfacing airplane components (structures, interiors, etc.).

    • Demonstrates a drive for innovative solutions for tooling and equipment to install and test electrical components more efficiently, earlier on in the build process, and more ergonomically for mechanics.

    • Regularly engages with mechanics and electricians on airplane manufacturing/assembly processes, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of the aircraft build plan.

    • Collaborates across teams to implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts, including but not limited to electrical systems design, equipment installation, functional test, and more.

    • Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop manufacturing and assembly solutions.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

    • Currently majoring in or has completed an ABET accredited BS in an engineering/applied sciences discipline.

    • Currently have, or will you have obtained a Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering or Science related field, by the end of August 2022.
