Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Entry Level Equipment & Tool Designer to support all locations and programs within the Puget Sound region, such as 777X, 767/Tanker, 737 Programs, Fabrication Division, and more. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, safety, and equipment services, and directly supporting the production system. In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.
In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this job family will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investigates, creates and reviews equipment and tooling concepts, designs and datasets, and organizes, manages and maintains drawings of record and applies configuration management tools.
Participates in product design reviews and researches the application of robotics, automation and new technology to support the build plan and establish technical requirements for producibility.
Develops statements of work with validated specifications, requirements, and functions and prepares design or fabrication off load packages.
Develops, documents and maintains equipment and tooling inspection, maintenance and spares requirements and trains personnel as needed.
Researches designs to create and revise usage instructions. Provides technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems, and analyzing data to identify solutions.
Checks designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
Conducts studies to determine current condition and make recommendation for disposition of the equipment and tooling.
Maintains hardware and software configuration. Assists with disposition of equipment and tooling.
Task examples that you will be expected to work under general direction:
Supports the investigation of basic equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements
Creates off-load packages, specifications, purchase requests and usage instructions for equipment and tooling.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Knowledge of various manufacturing techniques
Experience working in a production environment
CATIA or equivalent solid modeling experience
Experience with programming, integrating or troubleshooting industrial robots from OEMs such as ABB or FANUC, or PLCs, NCs, HMIs, or Drives such as Siemens, FANUC or Allen Bradley
Experience using basic Microsoft Office and office computing systems
Experience in Automation and robotics
Experience working with Composites
Ability to learn in a fast paced environment
Ability to collaborate with both the engineering work force and the mechanics on the factory floor
Project management knowledge
Strong communication skills
