Job Description Qualifications:
Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Entry Level Tactical Sensors Engineer in St. Louis MO , supporting a Phantom Works Fixed Wing Proprietary Program. You will be joining a fast-paced Phantom Works program where you will be responsible for developing and integrating complex, highly integrated, Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) Sensor Systems and Radio Frequency (RF) Sensor Systems. Your work will include both enhancing existing architectures with new capabilities as well as architecting completely new systems.
In this role, you will be joining a cross-functional team integrating next generation capabilities as part of a very exciting and critically important development effort. You will have the opportunity to operate in an agile development environment to mature our products through the development lifecycle, work on next generation open-architecture model-based designs, and collaborate across multiple disciplines.
The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering, collaborating with cross-functional peers, and presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership. Frequent interaction with program leadership, customers, and industry partners during critical design phases will be key elements of this position. Position Responsibilities:
Electro-Optical and Infrared (EO/IR) sensor integration
Radio Frequency (RF) sensor integration
Work with customers to develop and document requirements for tactical sensors
Analyze and translate customer requirements into system, hardware, and software designs
Coordinate with multiple disciplines to define size, weight, power, and cooling (SWAP-C) requirements, physical interfaces, electrical interfaces, and verify design meets requirements
Define logical and software interfaces to ensure compatibility with the platform architecture and ensure proper interoperability with other subsystems
Manage and monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs
Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for hardware, software, and performance model development. Utilizes MBSE for requirements development, interface definition, and traceability.
Hardware and software development, integration, test, and validation/verification
Address tactical sensor design/integration problems as they arise and coordinate with technology domain experts and suppliers as necessary.
Tests and validates Tactical Sensor Systems to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements
Prototype hardware and software evaluation, lab integration, analysis, and test
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Minimum of 18 years of age
Possess a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry by June 2024
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Radio Frequency (RF), microwave, Infra-Red (IR) or Electro-Optical (EO) sensor development experience
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
Software development, systems engineering, or integration and test experience with mission systems on tactical platforms
Experience developing requirements and performing requirements decomposition
Experience using agile methodology
System modeling experience using CAMEO or other modeling tools
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
