    JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s Phantom Works is the advanced research and platform development division within Boeing Defense, Space, and Security who is building the future and creating innovative solutions that will define the next generation of aerospace and defense.

    Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s Phantom Works division is seeking an Entry-Level Mass Properties Engineer at the Hazelwood, MO site to support advanced fixed wing proprietary activities. The selected candidate will be a part of shaping the future for Boeing and our DoD customers while conducting mass properties advanced design weight estimation, tracking, management, and supporting key design trades while expanding Phantom Works digital acceleration in mass properties.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work closely with other mass properties engineers to assist in development of preliminary weight estimates for advanced air vehicle design proposals, prototyping efforts, trade studies, etc.

    • Assist individual design teams with weight impact analysis and documenting design decisions

    • Assist with data analysis and mass properties database updates across program IPTs and supplier mass properties data.

    • Review and support detailed drawing and installation drawing release processes

    • Support the estimation, calculation, and measurement/verification of mass, center of gravity, & inertias of components, assemblies and completed vehicles or systems

    • Assists in developing weight, balance and mass properties data.

    • Assists in defining weight, balance and mass properties related design requirements.

    • Participates in developing customer specification commitments.

    • Assists in providing vehicle or system configuration guidance.

    • Participates in individual design team weight control efforts.

    • Assists in estimating, calculating and measuring and verifying mass, weight, stiffness and inertias of components, assemblies and completed vehicles or systems.

    • Assists in developing and maintaining weight, balance and mass properties accounting systems and generating weight and balance reports.

    • Assists in developing and implementing new processes and tools.

    • Works under close supervision.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Required Skill/Experience):

    • Associate's degree or related certification and 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

    • Experience with 3D modeling software such as Unigraphics NX, Catia, Solidworks, etc.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science or similar.

    • Excel and VBA scripts/macro development.

    • Experience with Finite Element Modeling tools such as PATRAN & Hyperworks.

    TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Summary pay range: $64,600 - $87,400
