Job Description Qualifications:
Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Entry-Level or Associate Electro-Optics Engineers (Level 1 and 2) to develop state of the art Electro-Optical, IR and laser based systems to join the Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) team in Albuquerque, NM. The engineer will work on the development of requirements, completion of detailed design, integration and test of systems. The job will require significant work in lab and field environments.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists in developing and documenting requirements for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components
Performs basic analysis to predict component performance to established requirements
Conducts simple tests to validate performance of designs to requirements
Collects data on supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements
Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle
Supports project management by gathering project status data
Gathers information to support development of sections of proposals to support development of new business
Works under close supervision
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. **** An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Education or experience in Electrical Engineering, Optics Technology and/or physics
Experience in optical and infrared systems design
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working with applied optical physics.
Experience working in a research and development environment.
Experience with optical/optoelectronic materials (substrates, coatings, composites) that meet performance requirements (e.g., spectral, thermal, optical).
Experience with infrared/electro-optical (IR/EO), visible, ultraviolet (UV), photonics, fiber, high energy laser, and optics research and development in basis and applied research on state of the art materials, features and products.
Experience with infrared/electro-optical (IR/EO), visible, ultraviolet (UV), photonics, fiber, high energy laser, optics systems design methodsfor communications, measurements, surveillance, tactical, strategic, and weapons applications.
Current US DOD Top Secret clearance or equivalent
Typical Education/Experience:
Entry-Level (Level 1): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation
standard.
Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard .
