    Job Description Qualifications:

    The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Entry Level Software Test Engineer to join the KC-46 Tanker Aerial Refueling (AR) Software team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility and Surveillance and Bombers (MS&B) organization.

    The AR SW team supports US Air Force and international KC-46 customers, providing integrated hardware and software solutions that enable aerial refueling capabilities. A variety of software work is needed including real time control software, communications software, and graphical user interface development including video overlays as well as iPad-like application development on operator displays.

    This position will include variety of informal and formal software testing activities focused on new capability development, delivered capability upgrades, defect correction, and proof-of-concept prototyping via Internal Research and Development (IR&D) activities.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop and test software components and functions

    • Support development of software functional requirements

    • Specify internal and external software interfaces

    • Conduct software test driven development

    • Conduct and support peer reviews on all software life cycle data

    • Support integration, ground and flight test events

    • Contribute to the success of an Agile development team

    • Support sprint planning and meet sprint commitments

    • The successful candidate enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction, quality and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-project environment.

    This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

    Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

    This position requires the ability to obtain a SECRET U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain SECRET U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

    • Experienced with Windows, Mac, iOS, and/or Linux development environments

    • Experience with any of the following software development languages: Java, C++, C, C#, or Ada

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Experience with Ada, C or C++ real time software development or have completed college level coursework in C or C++ programming in a real time environment

    • Experience with embedded (real-time) software development

    • Experience with DO-178

    • Hardware and Software Integration experience

    • Experience working within an Agile development team

    Typical Education/Experience:

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Travel:

    Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

    Relocation:

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.
