    Lead Thermal Spray - Coating Technician

    Cincinnati, OH

    Weekend Shift: 3/12-hour Shifts Friday - Sunday (11% Shift Differential; start times include 4am-4pm, 5am-5pm or 6am-6pm)

    As a Lead Thermal Spray Coating Technician you’ll support daily thermal spray operations by working closely with a team of technicians. This role is highly hands-on, combining technical expertise with team leadership to guide day-to-day activities, promote best practices, and foster a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will serve as a resource and mentor to the team, helping drive quality, productivity, and continuous improvement while contributing directly to coating operations.

    What you’ll do

    • Lead and support a team of thermal spray technicians in daily operations
    • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot thermal spray equipment (e.g., HVOF, plasma, arc spray)
    • Ensure coatings meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards
    • Monitor and optimize spray parameters, material usage, and process efficiency
    • Train and mentor team members on equipment, processes, and safety procedures
    • Conduct inspections using precision measuring instruments and ensure proper documentation
    • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve process issues and implement improvements
    • Maintain compliance with safety regulations, housekeeping standards, and company policies
    • Assist in scheduling, workload balancing, and meeting production targets
    • Carries out other duties as assigned

    Basic Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience with Thermal Spray or Plasma Spray Coatings
    • 1+ years of experience working with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.

    Desired Skills:

    • Prior team lead experience preferred
    • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
    • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings and/or blueprints.
