    What we do:

    Data is the backbone of Supernal from developing our autonomous air vehicles to building the global ecosystem for advanced air mobility to building, scaling, and running an efficient, effective, and data driven business. The new Data team architects and handles UAM’s internal data infrastructure, partners with users across the company to enable data driven solutions and runs strategic projects to stay a pioneer of data and analytical capabilities. We are a team of data engineers, data architects, data scientists, data analysts, data you-name-it, and we’re building out a pioneering data platform and capability for this new business comprised of modern leading technologies to enable the next generation of mobility solutions.

    The Data Governance, Privacy & Security Engineer is responsible for Coordinating Data Governance functions across the IT organization. This includes developing and aligning stakeholders on common data and metric definitions as well as ensuring alignment to data classification, security policies and privacy, including compliance with all US government and state legislation across Supernal. Under minimal supervision, this role will conduct governance reviews and document cross functional data governance policies, including updates and annual audits. They will publish data definitions and policies for all of Supernal and keep abreast of industry best practices to keep the strategy and data governance processes up to date.

    What you can do:

    As a Lead Engineer, Data Governance, Privacy & Security on the new Data team, you will hold a key role in high level testing, data quality & Data governance & Data Security strategy for the data team, including documentation, coverage mapping and definition of successful test, Data Governance & Security policies, and processes etc. You will have the opportunity and support to truly innovate and build the right data quality solutions and data governance & security frameworks and program from ground up to help implement our vision of an advanced air mobility future. Key partners to internal customers spanning across Supernal, including Legal, Safety, IT , Systems Engineering, ETD , Strategy, People Operations, and senior leaders. This is a unique opportunity to spearhead a Data Governance & Security program and work closely with senior leadership and help set up Governance and Security measures while balancing right level of Data Democracy & implement core systems of records and analytic innovations. You will contribute to our data strategy and its delivery by spearheading a Data Governance & Security corporate ethos & program across Supernal while balancing & promoting the appropriate level of data democracy.

    You are someone who thrives on driving cutting-edge , high-profile projects in data governance, privacy and security and thrives in providing governance, structure, guidance, and impactful data governance & secure solutions on a n aggressive schedule. You w ill play an active role as the expert Data Governance Engineer responsible for managing processes to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of data through reporting and analytic systems and across data domains. On behalf of business , Legal, Export Compliance and Engineering & Technology data stewards you will engineer will to implement and/or provide ongoing support for the tools necessary to establish data standards and document appropriate usage . This includes, but is not limited to, a data dictionary, data governance, privacy and security standards and policies, data catalog, a system for reference data management, and a master data management tool. Furthermore , you will assist with the identification and consumption of new 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd party and public data sources by coordinating and performing data governance activities related to these efforts ( e.g., data profiling and standardization). New sources may include data related to computer vision, maps, demographic data , consumer behavior or IoT. You must be an independent learner, a self-starter willing to initiate projects and anticipate opportunities for improving the quality of enterprise data.

    Other duties include:

    • serving as the technical lead within the data governance business area
    • coordinating the rollout and ongoing support for data governance tools
    • initiating efforts to assess business data needs against existing data sources to identify data gaps requiring new sources
    • conducting the update of data dictionary and maintain metadata
    • identifying process improvement and implement corrective actions to resolve data quality issues
    • Collect, profile, and analyze legal/compliance/privacy, Aerospace Engineering data including regulation related and FAA Certification data
    • Conduct the update of data dictionary and maintain metadata
    • Communicate and implement data policies, rules, and standards

    What you can contribute:

    • B.S. in relevant field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, software engineering, data science, or information sciences or equivalent work experience
    • 5+ years of relevant data management experience (master data, data governance, metadata, data architecture, data strategy, data quality, data modeling, data standards), preferably in regulated industries like Aerospace, Finance, or healthcare
    • 5+ years’ experience with data systems and implementation of data governance tools like Palantir Foundry, Informatica , Collibra, Alation, etc
    • Have delt heavily with Data Governance policy and standard establishment, management, and monitoring
    • Experience deploying data governance, data quality, compliance, information security, or privacy programs across a large enterprise
    • Demonstrated experience in working with platforms across diverse use cases, including data management
    • Professional experience with / comfortable using
      • Cloud services such as Azure (Preferable)/ GCP/ AWS
      • Databases and data lakes
      • SQL, Python, Spark (any interface, but PySpark preferred)
    • Ability to develop and lead data pipelines and lineage
    • Experience in writing sophisticated SQL scripts for data validation & data profiling
    • Experience implementing integration / master data management applications and processes
    • Creative and curious problem solver, able to take an ambiguous and complex need and develop data / analytics solutions
    • Able to work in a constantly evolving and ambiguous environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work across the business with diverse, technical, and non-technical colleagues

    • Experience in industry working with highly supervised data, i.e., aerospace, automotive, healthcare, finance

    • Demonstrated experience working within an enterprise technology department
    • Proficiency with the implementation of master data management and/or a data catalogue

    Base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of total compensation.

    The pay range for this position is:

    $172,775.20 - $289,120 USD
