    The BR&T Chemical Technology Team is looking for a Materials and Processes Engineer based out of Auburn, Washington to provide Materials and Process support to our business partners.

    Our team is currently hiring for a broad level of experience levels including entry-level, associate, and mid-level M&P engineers.

    This team is responsible for providing Materials and Processes (M&P) support to the different Boeing Business Units and programs in current and future finishes solutions. We are focused on discovering, developing, and transitioning innovative materials and manufacturing technology into Boeing products. Our highly capable workforce excels in a team environment of challenge and opportunity on multiple projects, and partners with Boeing business units, government customers, global suppliers, and universities to rapidly mature key technologies to production readiness.

    This candidate will be part of a team of engineers that provide technical solutions to complex light metal finishes problems that require creativity and collaboration with other business units and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, energetic, driven, handy in the lab, able to work with no instructions for routine work and able to work special projects or tasks with minimal instruction.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Collects information to support definition of requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products.

    • Incorporates changes to specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes.

    • Performs tests to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements.

    • Assists with activities to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.

    • Conducts basic analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes.

    • Assists in implementing corrective and preventive actions.

    • Develops basic computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.

    • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.

    • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Auburn site.

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Knowledge of inorganic finishes, surface treatment and corrosion principles

    • Experience with one or more of the following specialties: Aerospace or Automotive finishing, Inorganic finishing, and/or Inorganic Chemical Processes

    • Experience performing applications of inorganic finishes and surface treatments (e.g. anodizing, conversion coating, etching, chemical milling, deoxidizing, etc.) particularly for commercial or military aircraft

    • Experience with hands-on chemical or materials processing

    • Experience working in chemical lab and tanklines

    • Experience with the evaluation and qualification of materials, suppliers, equipment, technology and processes

    • Experience with implementing new technology into production systems or onto product

    • Experience working independently with some guidance from more experienced engineers

    • Strong written and verbal skills

    • Excellent at handling multiple projects and understanding priorities and business needs

    • Excellent in interpersonal skills and ability to perform effectively in a cross functional team environment

    Typical Education/Experience:

    Entry-Level (Level 1):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Associate (Level 2):

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Mid-Level (Level 3):

    Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Relocation:

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

    Summary pay range for entry-level: $68,850 - $93,150

    Summary pay range for associate: $82,450 - $111,550

    Summary pay range for mid-level: $102,000 - $138,000
