    The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Materials and Process Engineer to support the Space Launch System (SLS) team located in New Orleans, LA. We are looking for a broad range of experience including Entry-Level, Associate, or Mid-Level MP&P Engineers.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • The ability to generate specifications, test plans and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes

    • Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations and promotes standardization across business activities

    • Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs

    • Develops and qualifies new materials, parts and processes to meet requirements

    • Integrates new technologies as appropriate

    • Assists test and audit programs of manufacturing and engineering processes to applicable requirements

    • Conducts analysis to determine reasons for failures of materials, parts and processes

    • Implements corrective and preventative actions responding to non-conformance conditions and RCCAs

    • Designs, develops and qualifies computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements

    The specific skills associated with these requirements should include:

    • Thermal Protection (TP) and Thermal Protection Systems (TPS)

    • This skill should include the knowledge of requirements leading up to and inclusive of spray on and pour applications in addition to substrate clean, water break free (WBF), prime, verification testing, TPS application and verification testing

    • This skill requires familiarity of manufacturing techniques and processes used to apply and verify system materials

    • Preparation of planning documents used to guide and clarify processes used to compile manufacturing floor procedures

    • Requires a working knowledge of production scale-up, process development, verification and validation in the manufacturing environment

    • Transition of material and process lab qualification data and requirements to efficient and effective manufacturing processes

    • These skill requirements will be embedded in the Boeing M&P Production Support Team and will work side by side with Boeing and NASA M&P Engineers

    Contamination Control Engineering

    • Understanding Contamination Control and the application in Manned Space Flight Vehicles

    • Understanding and working knowledge of Government, Industry and Engineering Specifications

    • Application of governing documents and specification in the manufacturing environment

    Aerospace Materials Engineering

    • Working experience of processes and materials used in space flight vehicles such as bonding adhesives, films, tapes, coatings, primers, etc. used in nominal, flight and cryogenic environments.

    Metallurgy

    • Knowledge of techniques associated with 2000 series aluminum alloys, Inconel, and titanium.

    • Knowledge and understanding of corrosion in 2000 series aluminum alloys

    Fasteners and Application

    • Knowledge of aerospace fasteners, standards and applications.

    Note Position could include 1st or 2nd shift. Overtime may be required.

    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required. This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • 1+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry or other related engineering/science disciplines

    Typical Education/Experience:

    Entry Level (Level 1) - Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Associate (Level 2) - Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Mid-Level (Level 3) - Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Relocation:

    This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

    Summary Pay Plan Entry Level: $64,000 - $87,400

    Summary Pay Plan Associate Level: $77,350 - $104,650

    Summary Pay Plan Mid-Level: $95,200 - $128,800
