JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment.
- Executes preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
- Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
- Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.
- Design mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability and maintainability.
- Perform engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components. Solve design problems and check computations contributing to analytical designs.
- Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (AutoCAD, Solidworks) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical designs.
- Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
- Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
- Determines content of items required in support of costing estimates for proposals. This may include developing bills of materials, engineering hours, proto-type requirements, tooling requirements, non-recurring engineering, qualification and certification action requirements.
- Writes and oversees the general overall technical content of the proposal including technical product descriptions
- Performs other related duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- Two (2) years related experience and/or training in an aircraft MRO environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with aircraft related activity, to include aircraft maintenance and interior standard practice.
- Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Supports and explains the reasoning for their decisions and includes the appropriate people in his/her decision making process.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects, multiple deadlines and meet aggressive schedules.
- Must be able to look ahead, anticipate problems and proactively address issues.
- Must have strong organization and planning skills.
- Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
- Must be able to work either alone or as a team to solve problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills, team building skills
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft products required such as Excel and Word. Knowledge of AutoCAD 2016 preferred.
- Must be able to enter aircraft unassisted, kneel or physically capable perform interior evaluations.
- The position requires sitting at computer for long periods of time, standing at 30 minute meetings and walking to aircraft on the ramp.
- The noise level is usually moderate.
- Work overtime as required.
