Position Overview

Assistant in designing graphics related needs for Lauren & Chaps. Work closely with the team from concept to design, layout, material and costing of all ideas. Assist Print team in all aspects of the design and development process for Lauren & dresses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Graphics

• Assist in creating artwork and signage for seasonal inspiration rigs
• Create embroideries, prints and patches for apparel, and t-shirt designs based on themes in inspiration rigs
• Partner with design to create conceptual brand packaging, hangtags, labels, etc.
• Work with Designers on sizing, colorways and placement of logos and prints
• Produce logo sheets of finished designs for design team
• Assist in archiving work on graphics servers using the established system

CAD/Print

• Assist with re-coloring and re-designing prints for initial design meetings
• Assist in designing original textile designs for print based on fabric documents and swatches
• Assist in designing prints by hand (drawing and painting) if needed
• Communicate with Asia and NY production teams as needed and create art packs with print design details to send to mills
• Monitor correspondences with production teams, mills, Merchandising, and overseas RL team members in order to gain an understanding of the print product development process
• Maintain strike off, cads, protos, inspiration, and keep fabric qualities organized
• Assist on research appointments, competitor research and mill appointments; provide service to design teams when requested to search print archive, quality library, or print-related information
• Work Closely with the Design and Print teams to assist in print technique and fabric research and development. Gain knowledge of print design and fabric printing processes
• Help to create presentation boards for all design meetings – this includes photo/header research when needed
• Organize and maintain references of current print swatches with pricing. Provide print information and service to other RL divisions when requested

• Bachelors degree in fashion, textiles or graphics highly preferred
• Strong organization skills
• Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, Word and Excel
• Strong creative skills and ability to work with heritage themes in exciting new ways; ability to paint and draw
• Must be able to work in a faced-paced environment with deadlines
• Must have a keen sense of fashion and ability to make technical comments
• Ability to establish relationships with cross functional partners
• Awareness of Ralph Lauren heritage and aesthetic a plus
