Summary The person selected for this position will work on ecosystem restoration and water resources management projects such as park design, campus master planning, trails and open space design, innovative stormwater treatment design, native plant community restoration, and natural resource management plans. Project work will integrate sustainable landscape design principles and traditional landscape architecture. The successful candidate will work with Barrs landscape architects, civil engineers, and natural-resources group, assisting with and managing a variety of design and planning projects. Much of the work will involve developing or coordinating the production of construction plans, details, specifications, renderings, sections, perspectives, and info-graphics. The work will also involve business development and client management. The position offers an opportunity to contribute and learn as part of a progressive and innovative design team that provides landscape architecture, landscape ecology, and environmental planning services to our clients. Minimum Qualifications * Degree in Landscape Architecture * Three years of professional experience in landscape design * In-depth understanding of plant communities and planting plans * Demonstrated talent for conceptual design and project idea generation * Ability to draft, design, and detail landscape design construction elements; and familiarity with construction documents and specifications * Experience with preparing cost estimates for design and construction * Ability to create detailed and attractive renderings, section/elevations, infographics, and diagrams for client and public presentation * Demonstrated ability with graphics, graphical design and layout * Proficiency with AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite * Experience with GIS; understanding of GIS principles * Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a strong attention to detail * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, and clients * Demonstrated skill in preparing and delivering presentations to internal audiences, clients, and/or the public * A flexible working style and the ability to work independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs * Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship * Acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications * Masters degree in landscape architecture, architecture, engineering or related scientific or technical discipline * Professional Landscape Architect (PLA) certification * Project management experience * Business development and client management experience * Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk 3ds Max, or similar artistic rendering software * Proficiency with GIS and Civil 3D software Barr Engineering Co. reserves the right to consider other legitimate, non-discriminatory factors that are not specifically listed.
