Dover is a diversified global manufacturer with annual revenues in excess of $7 billion. -JOB TITLE: Construction Apprentice JOB TYPE: Full Time REPORTS TO: Construction Manager POSITION SUMMARY:Construction Apprentice will be performing installation of supermarket refrigeration systems which includes light electrical, plumbing, piping and fixture handling/installing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: -Provide support on construction jobs by maintaining job cleanliness. -Provide support with installing new supermarket refrigeration systems or remodeling existing supermarket refrigeration systems. -Be a champion of safety - must abide by all safety protocol and be an example to others when safety is an issue. -Travel when required. Work shifts and locations vary and are driven by project requirements. -Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: -Desire to learn and grow with the business. -Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of team including foreman, journeyman, subcontractor, and laborer. -Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking the English language effectively. Spanish is a plus, but not required. -Creative and innovative problem solving skills. -Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and achieve quality results. -Strong work ethic and professional attitude. -Basic mechanical background preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: -High School Diploma or GED. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: In performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is required to stand and walk throughout the work day; climb or balance; stoop, crouch and kneel. The employee must be able to climb on ladders, roofs and on occasion in high precarious places. The employee must be able to work in outdoor conditions where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Vision requirements include close, color and peripheral vision. Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and risk of electrical shock in damp, humid, or freezing conditions. While on jobsites, this person must adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and protocols which means this person may be required to wear personal protective devices such as but not limited to hearing and eye protection.
