Primary Responsibilities This is a dynamic position that includes both field inspection aspects and technical office tasks. The primary duties of this Structural EIT position are to conduct analyses, perform hydraulic structure and bridge inspections, develop design options or recommendations, assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications, and write reports for structural projects (dams, bridges, canals, penstocks, navigation locks, flood protection structures, fish ladders, ancillary structures etc.). Opportunity to perform inspections or analysis on many of the largest dams and bridges in the United States. Perform engineering assignments that may require critical thinking and creativity to address unique structural elements that have limited or no specific code based guidance. Resourceful and comfortable with both field and office assignments. Analysis could include finite element and/or structural asset management. Work independently on small projects or assists other engineers on larger projects. May give direction to clerical and technical personnel. Required Qualifications BS in Engineering required. Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a willingness to pursue while at HDR. EIT preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Structural Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression. 0+ years of experience required. Computer knowledge pluss (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LS-DYNA, TrueGrid, SAP2000). Previous structural inspection, asset management (data analytics, machine learning, coding) or structural design experience is a plus. SPRAT or FHWA Bridge Inspection Certifications also a plus. Must possess strong interpersonal, speaking and writing skills. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee- owned culture is a must. owned culture is a must.
